Summer of Sonic 2009

On a warm day in London, Brick Lane, fans came together for a special event. The18th birthday of Sonic was celebrated there. Everyone was there - producers, designers like Game designers, draughtsmen and of course the musicians who are responsible for the atmosphere of the games. All that on a special day, on August 28th 2009. How often will you get the chance to meet these important people who are so intensively dealing with Sonic and the games? There are still a lot of pending questions, not only from the fans.

In London, there was an atmosphere a real Sonic fans only could dream of. You could review all the Sonic classics, but not only that. There were two new games, already provided for the curious fans. It was the new games "Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games " in Vancouver 2010 and " Sonic & SEGA all star racing ". Of course you could line up where you can get it, just to test it.

Among other things there was a painting competition, in the end the best pictures were presented and great prices were given. Very fancy was also the art contest. You could represent yourself in a Sonic costume and felt like you were a part of the Sonic world. Well.

You had a lot of opportunities to spend the day. You could show off your abilities to draw and with your Sonic costume. Or you spend your time with doing handicrafts or watching famous artists on the stage such as Bentley Jones. Jones made a casual and sporty performance, but for a real Sonic fan this was just second rate. For a Sonic fan the voice is the important thing and with that he satisfied and revived the fans. He introduced his current album "Translation". Beside the songs from his new album he played songs he sang for the Sonic games, where the fans passionately joined in his singing. After Bentley Jones's gig he gave an autographing session where you had the chance of buying his current and signed album "Translation". While Bentley Jones was signing his new album, a quiz about Sonic and its themes with terrific prizes to win started on stage.

To top the whole event off a DJ played some "The Sonic clips" so that the fan had something to laugh about. In the end public interviews took place with the draughtsmen of "Sonic The comic". The interviews were great, especially because the fans were able to join it. Of course there were also the producer and game designer at interview "Sonic & SEGA all star racing", who introduced their new project. The curiosity of most fans got satisfied by specific questions. To please the fans even more, flyer of the Crush 40 fan club were given the fans for an even bigger delight. The day ended fast but it was a very great and impressive day for all Sonic fans, every fan walked home satisfied of the day's experience.

In the very end there was a huge cake of the "Emerald Shrine (Green Hill zone)" where every fan got a piece. Besides the invitation of Crush 40 for the "Summer of Sonic 2010" was announced! We will look forward to it.
